About the Conference Committee

The SCGIS conference committee is a dedicated group of individuals behind the annual SCGIS conference. The SCGIS conference is the central gathering hosted by SCGIS for its board, members, and the conservation GIS community each year.

The conference committee organizes this conference each year by developing the conference theme; managing conference registration, abstract acceptance, and other deadlines; inviting and coordinating the speakers (including the current SCGIS scholars); coordinating plenary sessions, keynote speakers, and pre-conference workshops; coordination with the SCGIS conference venue; organizing the map gallery and conference auction; and generally planning and running the annual conference.

This committee works closely with the international scholarship program, the website committee, the membership committee, the communications committee, and the board of directors to ensure everything in and around the conference is scheduled, communicated, and running smoothly.
