About the Finance Committee

The SCGIS finance committee works to improve transparency and generate broader understanding of SCGIS finances among the Board of Directors and the other SCGIS committees. Their goal is to improve the understanding of the diversity and amount of income assets, sources, and expenses; to assess costs and sustainable financial structures for supporting existing SCGIS activities and developing new activities as authorized by the Board of Directors; to demonstrate fiscal responsibility to existing and potential donors; and to ensure full compliance with all SCGIS reporting obligations as a 501(c)3 organization.

The finance committee aims to bring broader transparency to SCGIS fiscal planning and management, help retain institutional memory, provide essential information to budgeting for current and future organizational activities, and build capacity for new at-large members who have expertise and formal training in financial management.
