About the Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is dedicated to growing and supporting the SCGIS global community of conservation professionals. Their primary mission is to facilitate member recruitment and retention by managing the administrative aspects of membership, including processing renewals, maintaining a comprehensive member database, and expanding payment accessibility for members. By collaborating with other SCGIS committees to develop new benefits and engagement strategies, the membership committee strives to ensure that every member feels supported in their mission to use GIS for a sustainable future.

A key responsibility of the committee is overseeing the suite of professional benefits designed to enhance conservation GIS capacity worldwide. These include providing members with access to an SCGIS ArcGIS Online organizational account with annual service credits, as well as facilitating access to discounted Esri software and technical training. Members also receive registration discounts for the SCGIS Annual International Conference and have exclusive access to a job board, news archives, and a global listserv for technical support and networking.
